Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Guided Inquiry learning model on the mathematical communication skills of Grade VII students of SMP Negeri 10 Pekanbaru. This research was implemented on January 20, 2020 until February 7, 2020. The form of this research is Quasi Experiment. The design of this study was the Control Group Pretest Posttest. The population of this research is all grade VII students of SMP Negeri 10 Pekanbaru. Samples were selected using purposive sampling. Class VII.4 as an experimental class with 35 students and class VII.3 as a control class with 35 students. Research instruments include tests of mathematical communication skills. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The results of this study indicate: 1) the average mathematical communication ability of students increases, namely the experimental class X̅ = 73,28 and the control class X̅ = 64,57. 2) This means H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of Guided Inquiry learning model on mathematical communication skills of Grade. VII students of SMP Negeri 10 Pekanbaru.
