Abstract
Plastic waste and coir fiber coir betel nut the amount is very large in Indonesia if the amount of plastic and fiber coir betel nut continues to increase feared will have a bad impact on the environment, for that there needs to be a way to reuse plastic waste and betel nut fiber, an alternative that can be done is to change both materials on particle boards, This research aims to find out the quality of composite boards in this case physical and mechanical properties (density, thick development, modulus elasticity (MOE), and patah modulus (MOR)). From betel nut coir fiber with polypropylene recycled plastic adhesive. with differences in mixed composition: 70% fiber: 30% PP is amounted to, top coating with a mixture composition of 59% fiber : 30% PP : 10% resin : 1%, bottom coating with a mixture composition of 48% fiber : 30% PP : 20% resin 2%. From the calculation obtained a density test value of 0.848, 0.895 and 0.939 , thick development of 2%, 6% and 9%, modulus elasticity 56.4811 (104 kgf/cm3), 55.2013 (104 kgf/cm3) and 53.836 (104 kgf/cm3), broken modulus of 192.5736 (kgf/cm3), 200.1048 (kgf/cm3) and 448.6224 (kgf/cm3), Of all the test results only the elasticity modulus did not meet the SNI standard 03-2105-2006.
