Abstract

In the XYX Field oil was found at depths between 300-700 ft when the first steamflood was drilled in 1941. The XYX Field oil production was hampered due to physical properties including initial conditions with a density of up to 22.4° API and a viscosity of 118cp. Based on this condition, XYX Field oil is included in the heavy oil category. Therefore, exploitation is carried out using the help of steam injection. The XYX Field rock formation is a sandstone formation (unconsolidated) which causes sand to be produced along with the formation fluid. Difa is one method that can prove that the damage to the pump is caused by technical problems (from the pump itself) or caused by the characteristics of the reservoir formation. After the series of pumps are lifted to the surface and sent to the Tubing Pump Repair Shop, the root cause of the SRP pump will be known so that recommendations are obtained for problem solving for the next completion stage. So the problem will be grouped into data based on the damage factor and calculate the pump capacity. Then evaluate the cause of SRP failure using Dismantle Inspection Failure Analysis (DIFA). The most frequent cases in this field are sand problems with a percentage of 61%, followed by mechanical problems 18%, scale 13%, gas 5% and chemical 3%. chemical problems cause the pump circuit to erode such as the seat ball valve is no longer round, causing the traveling valve and standing valve to leak. The sand problem caused the plunger to be scratched and even worse to be stuck so that production stopped. The scale formed in the pump will inhibit the entry of fluid, resulting in a decrease in production. Gas problems can cause gas lock or gas ponding on the pump, to overcome this problem you can install a gas anchor under the seating nipple.
