Abstract

This study aims to determine the personality traits most likely to engage in debt behavior among State Civil Apparatus based on five personality factors according to the theory of Costa and McCrae (1992). Subjects in this study were 232 ASN Public Works and Spatial Planning Offices of Riau Province who carried out the debt behavior chosen by accidental sampling technique. The data collection method uses a five-factor personality scale from John and Srivastava (1999) and has been adapted by Ramdhani (2012) of 44 items. The analysis used in this research is descriptive quantitative. Based on the analysis it is known that the behavior of debt in the ASN Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning of Riau Province is in the medium category for each personality factor. However, when viewed from the high category - very high and the low category - very low, the State Civil Apparatus is more in the high category - very high for factors open to experience and extraversion. Whereas personality factors for conscience, approval and neuroticism are in the low category - very low.
