Abstract
The efficiency of the solar cell decreases to 0.5% for every 1 o C increase as a result of heat energy, so cooling of the solar panel is required. The purpose of this research is to create a cooling system on the surface of the panel by varying the wind speed and knowing its effect on the performance of the solar panel. The tools used in this research are anemometer, thermometer couple, clamb meter, pyranometer and multimeter. This study uses 4 solar panels with the same specifications, namely 180 WP and a fan is used as a cooler on the solar panel with 4 types of speed variations, namely 0 m/s, 2.30 m/s, 3.11 m/s, and 3.60 m/s. The results obtained, the solar panel with a wind speed of 0 m/s obtained an average efficiency value of 14.47% and a heat transfer rate of 0 W. The solar panel with a wind speed of 2.30 m/s obtained an average efficiency value of 15.55% and the average heat transfer rate is 22.15 W. Solar panels with a wind speed of 3.11 m/s obtained an average efficiency value of 15.77% and an average heat transfer rate of 39.77 W. Solar panels with a wind speed of 3.60 m/s obtained an average efficiency value of 16.11% and the average heat transfer rate of 65.56 W. There was an effect of the air cooling system with variations in wind speed and increasing the rate of heat transfer which had an impact on the performance of the solar panel The best efficiency values occur in solar panels with faster wind speeds.
