Abstract

Welding is a job that is most often used in the world of construction and industry today, especially in the world of fabrication, but in practice it is still often found defects in the welding process. Weld strength is strongly influenced by the welding process, heating and the presence of residual stresses. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in heat input (Heat Input) of low carbon steel EN10025-2 S355J2N and SMAW welding results on the hardness value and tensile strength value. tested by the Vickers method of hardness testing and tensile test values. The test is carried out with three variations of heat input to the specimen of the test object, then the specimen from SMAW welding will be tested by testing the hardness of the Vickers method and the value of the tensile test. The welding process was carried out on three specimens with three variations of Heat Input. The welded material is then subjected to a Vickers test and a tensile test. The results showed that the high variation of Heat Input with a min value of 2.1 Kj/mm – max 2.6 Kj/mm had the highest hardness value compared to other Heat Input variations with a VHN value of 187 Haz.1 area, 220 Weld Metal area and 194 HAZ.2 area. The Tensile Test for High Heat Input also shows the greatest tensile strength value with 642 N/mm2.
