Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine how the pattern of interactions in prisons with perpetrators of motor vehicle theft recidivities in the Class IIA Penitentiary Pekanbaru. This type of research is a qualitative method, using Differential Association theory that explains the learning process of criminal behavior through social interaction, the location of the research location is conducted at Class IIA Penitentiary Pekanbaru, this research was conducted using data collection techniques by observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. After the data and information have been obtained by the author, then analyzed through data grouping, from this data grouping the writer can draw more specific conclusions to get a more accurate final conclusion. Based on the results of research obtained at the Penitentiary Class IIA Pekanbaru that there has been a pattern of interaction between fellow inmates in the exchange of information about crime, the results of interactions conducted by prisoners at the Penitentiary will make them to repeat the crime in a newer way.
