Abstract

Produced wastewater from oil wells contains both organic and inorganic particles. This water goes through initial treatment and then directly injected into well. The water treatment process is produced using a tool called water treatment which can consists of sand, walnut shell, and activated carbon. Until now, the oil and gas industry has rarely exploited the potential of organic wastes such as bagasse activated carbon. Elemental content of bagasse consists of 37.65% cellulose and 22.09% lignin which can be used as raw materials for activated carbon. The purpose of this study was to obtain data on phenols, oils & fats, and pH in treated water and analyze the adsorption value of the combination of zeolite with variations thickness in walnut and bagasse activated carbon. The thickness ratio of zeolite, walnut and KAAT is C1 (15cm:5cm:15cm), C2 (15:15:5), and C3 (15:15:15). Bagasse activated carbon is produced using the H3PO4 chemical activation method and physics. Iodine test results obtained 1,104.6mg/g, was higher than the SNI standard is 750 mg/g. The test results of the produced water samples from the Musi Banyuasin field, South Sumatra have high phenol and oil & fat values is 16.020mg/L and 45.8mg/L. The test results of each parameter are known that the three media affect the value of phenol. The adsorption of phenol for 5cm; 15cm on walnut is 29%;47%; KAAT was 47%;67%, for oils & fats in walnut 20%;44%; KAAT is 31%;55%. The adsorption of the phenol of the sample combination C1; C2; C3 is 96%;97%;98%, oils and fats 87%;83%;90%. The pH content of the initial sample water was 6.9 after treatment obtained C1;C2;C3 was 6.1;7.1;6.5.
