Abstract

Analysis of Liquid Loading on Gas Well Y1 and The Resolution with Plunger Lift Method NURAINI 163210082 ABSTRACT A gas is defined as a homogeneous fluid with low viscosity and density, lacking volume, but expanding to fill its entire reservoir. Each gas well usually produces natural gas that produces liquids, both in the form of water and condensate (hydrocarbons) formed from gas vapor. The inability of the gas to lift the liquid to the surface causes the liquid to accumulate in the downhole, an event called liquid loading. If a well has occurred liquid loading, then the production of the well will decrease even the well will die or close. For that, it is necessary to analyze the prediction of liquid loading and the correct method to overcome the liquid loading problem. Liquid loading is not always easy to identify, because when loading occurs the well may still produce a significant amount. The method commonly used in the petroleum world to predict liquid loading is the "Turner et al" method. While the method used to overcome liquid loading in well Y1 field X is the Plunger lift method. Plunger is a piston type device that moves freely in the tubing rope and corresponds to the diameter in the pipe, it moves up when the well pressure is enough to lift and move back down due to the force of gravity. The plunger lifting system uses a buildup of gas pressure in the well to lift the accumulated column of fluid out of the well. Basically, the plunger lift system uses a plunger that moves up and down in the tubing to lift the liquid. At the Y1 gas well with a flow rate in 2014 of 0.69 MMSCFD there has been a significant decrease in production. Based on gas production reports from the previous year, production can even reach 4 MMSCFD. This can be known to have occurred liquid loading, supported by the flow rate which is below the gas critical flow rate of 2.6 MMSCFD. Used plunger lift to overcome the accumulation of liquid in gas wells, gas production can then increase significantly due to the successful removal of liquid accumulated by the plunger.
