Abstract

Based on the initial planning data, the project was completed within 206 calendar days. However, in the field implementation, it was found that construction delays occurred during the construction of the structure, so that project completion was 296 calendar days. The project experienced delays in the completion of the construction project. The purpose of this study was to determine the duration of the crash (crash duration), to find out the costs due to the acceleration of work implementation, and to find out the factors causing the delay in implementation of the Bengkalis State Polytechnic Integrated Lecture Building Project. The research method used in this study is the crashing method or the method of accelerating the duration of project completion. The crash duration method uses the help of a computer application, namely Microsoft Project 2016. Microsoft Project 2016 is used to determine activities that are on a critical path. Thus, activities that are on the critical path will accelerate the duration of project completion (crash duration). This study analyzes the acceleration of completion of the project duration by using two alternatives, namely adding four hours of work (overtime) and holding a night shift system. The results showed that the duration of the acceleration in the alternative of adding four hours of work was 198 days, a 16 day difference from the implementation duration with an increase of Rp. 15,277,526,396. Meanwhile, using the night shift system, the acceleration duration is 170 days, a difference of 44 days from the implementation duration with an increase of Rp. 10,179,691,314. Factors causing project delays include technical factors in foundation work, transportation factors, weather factors, and the COVID-19 pandemic factor.
