Abstract

This research is motivated by the violation of the use of journalistic language in the Pekanbaru Tribun newspaper, such as violations in the criminal rubric where there are still violations of aspects of the news writing guidelines. The problem of this research is how violations of the news writing guidelines contained in the criminal news in the March 2020 edition of the Pekanbaru Tribun newspaper. This study aims to collect information and data about the use of journalistic language in terms of guidelines for writing criminal news in the Pekanbaru Tribune newspaper. The scope of this research is journalistic language, especially in the field of guidelines for writing criminal news. The theory used is the news writing guidelines proposed by Barus in 2010. This research method is descriptive method. This type of literature study and qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are documentation techniques and hermeneutic techniques. Data analysis techniques are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The conclusion of this research is that the guidelines for writing criminal news from the journalistic language have been implemented, but there are still violations of the news writing guidelines, namely: (1) mentioning the identity of adolescents in criminal cases, (2) unbalanced news, (3) disproportionate news . So, the news in the Pekanbaru Tribune newspaper which is the data of this research is still news that has not been correct in the application of the guidelines for writing criminal news, so the quality of the news does not meet the standards of writing news.
