Abstract

This research was motivated by students’ active learning problem, such as lack of interest in questioning, lack of giving suggestion, and lack of giving opinion, besides, active learning was an important point in learning process. The purpose in this research examined to know the influence of using discussion method on year 2019 students’ active learning in education quality assurance subject at Islamic education program study Islamic university of Riau. This research used quantitative research with correlational approach. The subject in this research involved year 2019 students at Islamic education program study Islamic university of Riau. The object in this research was active learning and using discussion method for year 2019 students. The population involved 201 students and sampling technique used slovin formulation with margin error 5% and it became 133 students. Data collection technique used questionnaire and documentation. Based on data analysis done in this research, it known that there was any influence of using discussion method on year 2019 students’ active learning in education quality assurance subject at Islamic education program study Islamic university of Riau. It was known based on the result of simple linear regression had significant score 0.000 and 0.000 smaller than 0.05, it could be stated that the research hypothesis was accepted. The influence score of using discussion method in 0.520 or 52% and it classified into middle, it was in range 0.40 – 0.599 in correlation coefficient correlation table, meanwhile others 48% influenced by other factors.
