Abstract
To maintain life, humans need energy intake in the form of food and drink or referred to as food. Food contributes significantly to the formation of quality human resources and generation. Food security is defined as the condition of fulfilling food needs up to individuals to be able to live in an active and productive healthy manner in a sustainable manner. This study aims to analyze: (1) Food security status at the sub-district level in Pekanbaru from the aspect of food access (2) Food security status at the sub-district level in Pekanbaru from the aspect of food utilization (3) Composite food security at the sub-district level in Pekanbaru City . This research was conducted in Pekanbaru City which included 12 sub-districts which were carried out for 6 months, starting from July to December 2019. This study used a literature study method and the data used were secondary data in 2018. The research was analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. through analysis of indicators (range), a composite index of access and use of food and composite food security presented in tables, graphs and maps. The results of this study indicate that food access indicators: the percentage of poor population of 16.22% (181,215 people), the percentage of households with food expenditure ≥ 65% of the total expenditure of 16.86% (45,304 households) and the percentage of households without access to electricity by 0.35% (928 households). From these 3 indicators, the combined index of access to food is 37.47, which means that in terms of food access, Pekanbaru City is in a high food security condition (priority 6). Food utilization indicators: percentage of households without access to clean water is 0.56% (1,514 households), average length of schooling for women ≥ 15 years is 11.13, percentage of morbidity rate is 20.14% (225,010 people), the ratio of total population per health worker to population density is 0.569 and the percentage of underweight children is 0.22% (247 people). From the 5 indicators, a combined index of food utilization is obtained which is 43.06, which means that in terms of food utilization, Pekanbaru City is in a high food security condition (priority 6). Based on the combination of all index values for food security indicators, all districts in Pekanbaru City in 2018 are in food security conditions. The districts that have the highest food security index (IKP) and are ranked first (ranking) are Tenayan Raya (86.40) and Sail District (69.22) in the last rank.
