Abstract

Film is a work of art that displays reality through audio-visual that can give significant effects on humans as audiences. Film can display things that occur in various aspects of life. What is depicted in a film is a representation of the real world. Marlina Si Pembunuh Dalam Empat Babak has succeeded in showing reality of violence against woman that still occurre in Indonesia. Purpose of this research to find out the representation of violence against women that exist in the film of Marlina Si Pembunuh Dalam Empat Babak. A qualitative analysis technique with semiotic analysis of Charles Sanders Peirce is the methodology used of this study. The technique of completion data such as interview, observation and documentation. The results of this study showed that the film "Marlina Si Pembunuh Dalam Empat Babak" contain acts of violence against women such as slapping, pushing, strangling, degrading, threatening, forced sexual intercourse, touching sexual organs and certain body parts. The conclusion of this research is the representation of violence against women in the film Marlina Si Pembunuh Dalam Empat Babak, that consist such as physical abuse, psychological abuse, and sexual assault are depicted in the film Marlina Si Pembunuh Dalam Empat Babak.
