Abstract

Every students must have problem when do teaching and learning pocess. The teacher should more active and creative in teaching and learnin process. The teacher should apply strategy, method, and approach. PBL is a constructivist educational approach that organizes curriculum and instruction around carefully crafted “ill-structured” problems. Problem Based Learning is real life experience as context of the students’ media to build critical thinking and problem solving skill of fun and enjoyable strategy of English communication Learning. This research was experimental research which kind of research was trueexperimental research. There were two class of this research. There were experimental class and control class. This research focused on speaking ability. The researcher applied the problem based learning doing the research. The researcher applied the PBL in experimental class. While, in control class, the researcher did not apply any strategy, method, or approach. Further, the researcher gave two tests for the students, pre test and post test. The Research of pre-test showed that the average score pre-test in experimental class by using PBL Approach was 67.5. While, the score of post-test was 76.1. There was improvement of the students’ speaking ability after getting treatment by using PBL Approach. Then, the t-calculated was 8.251. It was higher than ttable 2,024. In brief, it can be concluded that there was significant effect of Problem Based Learning towards the students’ speaking ability.
