Abstract

Student is someone who undergoes education at the college level or equivalent institution to prepare certain skills. The density of activity and the many problems experienced can cause students to have poor sleep quality. There are several factors that affect the quality or quantity of sleep, one of which is anxiety. Anxiety is often a disturbance in sleep, someone who has many problems in his mind and when he is about to start sleeping it is difficult to relax will disturb his sleep. This study aims to determine the relationship between anxiety and sleep quality in students at the Islamic University of Riau. The method used in this study is a quantitative method. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with a total sample of 393 people. Collecting data used to measure anxiety is Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale (TMAS) adapted by Ulfah Mubarak with a total of 50 items, while to measure sleep quality using a scale developed by Fuad Nashori and R. Rachmy Diana and adapted by Monika Trisia Meiranto with total 40 items. The results of data analysis using the Pearson Product Moment correlation technique, it is known that there is a significant negative relationship between anxiety and sleep quality in Islamic University of Riau students (r = -0.385; p = 0.000).
