Abstract

The purpose in this research examined to know the influence of critical thinking ability on students’ learning independence. This research was quantitative correlation research. This research was conducted at Islamic boarding senior high school Nurul Islam New Village. The sample in this research was all students class X because the students’ number were less than 100 students. This research instrument was critical thinking questionnaire and learning independence questionnaire. Data analysis technique used for hypothesis 1 was t-test meanwhile for hypothesis 2 used simple linear regression. Data analysis result by using t-test showed score and it could be concluded that there was any influence of critical thinking ability on students’ learning independence toward students’ whose did not use critical thinking ability on students’ learning independence. Data analysis result by using simple linear regression showed that there was any influence of critical thinking ability on students’ learning independence. The data showed that learning independence (Y) was influenced in 74% by critical thinking (X). Meanwhile others 26% was influenced by others factors. In knowing relationship level among variables could be seen in summary table that showed coefficient score ( R ) = 0.548 that showed relationship among variables.
