Abstract

Differences in the concept and availability of facilities and infrastructure in modern markets in Pekanbaru City have led to differences in perceptions among the public regarding modern market facilities and infrastructure in Pekanbaru City. So that research is needed to identify and know the direction of these differences in perceptions. The purpose of this research is to identify the public perception of modern market facilities and infrastructure in Pekanbaru City. The purpose of this research is as a reference for the development and improvement of the existing and future modern market infrastructure. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method that is needed to describe the characteristics of modern markets from the results of field observations and identify people's perceptions of modern market facilities and infrastructure in Pekanbaru City. The result of this research is that the modern market cathedral in Pekanbaru City is divided into 4 types or forms, namely: supermarkets, hypermarkets, department stores and grocery stores. In the modern supermarket market the perception category with a high percentage is very bad, namely (52%) while the perception of the good category is (23%), in the modern hypermarket market the perception with a high percentage is good (44%) and very good (23%) , in the department store market, the perception with a high percentage is good (34%) and very bad (32%) and in the modern market, perception with a high percentage is very bad (38%) and good (29%).
