Abstract

The aim of this research was to found out there was any significant effect of task based language teaching (TBLT) toward students’ speaking ability of second grade students at MTsN 3 kota pekanbaru or not. The design of this research was experimental, the research studied use quantitative approach. The total population in this research was 344 students which consist of ten classes. The sample of this research was second grade students at MTsN 3 Kota pekanbaru in class VIII/5 and VIII/7. The researcher was doing pre-test in the first meeting and was treatment conducted for four meeting by using task based language teaching such as (1) pre-teaching, (2) while-teaching, (3) post-teaching, (4) post-test. The last meeting the researcher was doing post-test. The data this research through pre-test and post-test, the researcher was took the students score from performanced. The result showed that the students’ means score in pre-test was 59.979 and post-test was 107.181. There was significant difference of the mean score. It had increase 47,101 after treatment with the significant level of 0.05. It was answered that H0 and Ha because t observe was -14.124 > t table was 2.048. There was significant effect of task based language teaching (TBLT) toward students speaking ability at second grade students at MTsN 3 kota pekanbaru.
