Abstract

Paraffin deposit is a problem that often occurs in the production process. Paraffin deposits can occur in wells that have the characteristics of paraffin growth. Well X experienced paraffin growth due to the characteristics of paraffin wells with a CII value of 3.17 and unstable oil conditions, so that oil production decreased production and contained paraffin. Paraffin monitoring was carried out at Well X with the result that there was paraffin formation along an area of 11004000 ft. Paraffin treatment is carried out with the aim of overcoming the paraffin problem. Paraffin cutting has been carried out at Well X by operating a slickline service once a week in a shut-in well condition so that the well production process is disrupted and causes a decrease in production. High costs also cause losses and are considered inefficient. Therefore, another method is used, namely downhole injection. Downhole injection is done by injecting chemical dissolver in gallon per day dose. The chemical dissolver is injected through the tubing to the downhole of the well. From the results of the evaluation of Well X in anticipating paraffin, downhole injection gave good results with a production increase of 58.5% from the results of the slickline service method in the last month of 362 bbl to 574 bbl in the first month downhole injection method. After the downhole injection was carried out, in the following months the condition of the oil was also categorized as stable with a CII value of 0.57. The downhole injection cost is inversely proportional to the slickline service method, where the downhole injection cost is much cheaper than the slickline service. Thus, downhole injection can be said to be successful by showing an increase in production and is still used today.
