Abstract

The piping system in the air compressor is a pressurized air distribution system with a certain temperature which can cause overstress. It is necessary to analyze the piping system to alert whether there is excessive pressure which makes the piping system unsafe. The analysis was carried out on two lines of blasting-painting and CNC plasma cutting using the CAESAR II 2019 software-based analysis method. The highest voltage results in the software were compared with the allowable stress values according to ASME B31.3 standards. The ratio at the highest rated stress should not exceed 100%, otherwise more piping systems can be carried out. The results showed that there was overstress in the blasting-painting line at nodal 760 with four different loadcases whose stress ratio reached 227.8% at loadcase 10 with a stress value of 775561.9 kPa, 163.2% at loadcase 11 with a stress value of 555814.6 kPa, 172, 4% on loadcase 14 with a stress value of 587012.9 kPa, 107.9% on loadcase 15 with a stress value of 367265.6 kPa. The stress value is compared with the allowable stress value, which is 340477.7 kPa. After modification of the stress drop at nodal 760 which experienced overstress with the stress ratio to 40.5% at loadcase 10 with a stress value of 138126.1 kPa, 29% at loadcase 11 with a stress value of 99003.34 kPa, 30.7% at loadcase 14 with a stress value of 104510.11 kPa, 19.2% at loadcase 15 with a stress value of 65386.98 kPa.
