Abstract

Appropriate technology is technology that is suitable for the needs of the community so that it can be used at a certain time. Along with the development of science and technology, it is this that supports the author to create a creative work of technology that can be used by the community. The capacity of the machine that has been made only reaches an efficiency of 46.67% from 15 kg / hour to 32 kg / hour, so the author tries to improve it by changing some of the construction of the machine. This development aims to obtain a better dry leaf waste crusher. To get a measure of the fineness of the chopped leaves and the maximum production results from the previous dry leaf waste crusher machine processing. The process of developing a dry leaf waste crusher is carried out in stages, namely designing and explaining the tasks / functions of the tools and materials, designing the product concept (working drawing). Technical analysis includes analysis of power and speed that occur on the shaft. The propulsion of the dry leaf crusher machine is planned to use an electric motor adapted to the electrical power capacity for SMEs, which is estimated to range from 900 to 1300 watts in average. And the production results obtained from the design of dry leaf waste crusher with a production capacity of 32 kg / hour, the previous dry leaf shredder produced a production of 15 kg / hour. The dimensions of the chopper container diameter are 60 cm x 60 cm wide x 98 cm high, using a driving force in the form of an electric motor 1/2 HP 1400 rpm, the frame uses the L profile elbow 40 x 40 x 4 mm. The performance test results show that the machine works quite well than before, and can produce chopped leaves measuring 5-10 mm in size.
