Abstract

The use of palm shell, walnuts and silica sand as filter media by the filtration method using housing filter improve the quality of produced water. With the use of oil palm shell activated carbon, walnuts and silica sand may reduce levels of oil and grease, turbidity, TDS, pH and temperature in produced water. In this study, oil palm shell active carbon was chemically activated using 10% Naoh. After the active carbon of the oil palm shell has been activated, activate carbon of the palm oil is put into the cartridge filter and filter housing. The installation of the tools is carried out in a series of tools that have been made, in which it consists of 3 cartridges. Each of its cartridge contains silica sand, walnuts and active carbon of palm oil shell. In the active carbon of oil palm shells test, it results better than walnuts. Oil and grease 7 mg / L with efficiency 85.41%, turbidity 13.1 NTU with efficiency 95.07% temperature 27.9, TDS 163.4 and pH 7.30, while walnut oil and grease value 9 mg / L with efficiency 81.25%, turbidity 14.9 NTU with efficiency 94.39%, temperature 27.9, TDS 843.0 and pH 7.29. Meanwhile, the final results of the wash tank that have been filtered using silica sand, walnuts and coconut shell active carbon results better than the MFU result. The final result of the filtered wash tank shows values of 6 mg / L at the oil and grease, turbidity 12.9 NTU, TDS 115.0, temperature 27.9 and pH 7.30 while the results from MFU shows value of 24. Mg at an oil and grease / L, turbidity 68.2 NTU, TDS 130.8, temperature 28 and pH 7.13.
