Abstract

This Thesis discusses the existence of the Tandak Mendue Muke Dance as an Effort to Preserve Joget Dangkong at the Angsana Dance Community, Karimun Regency, Riau Island Province. Existence is the existence of an activity that is continuous and continuous, while preservation is an effort that is carried out continuously and directed in order to make something still exist. The problem in this research is how the existence of Tandak Mendue Muke Dance as an effort to preserve Joget Dangkong in the Angsana Dance Community Studio, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province ? The purpose of this study was to determine the existence of Tandak Mendue Muke Dance as an effort to preserve Dangkong Joget in the Angsana Dance Community, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province. The theory that the researchers used is the theory of existence by Jazuli (2016: 52) and the theory of conservation efforts by Sedyawati (2008: 152). The method used in this research is descriptive analysis, with a qualitative approach. The data collection technique used in this research is observation, interview, and documentation data collection techniques. The results of this study concluded that the Tandak Mendue Muke dance still exists among the community until now. The existence of the Tandak Mendue Muke Dance has an effect on the preservation of Joget Dangkong. The existence of dance is divided into time and space processes. Space includes events, interests (performance) and value systems, while time includes the process of production (creation). Dance events are related to dance, communication media expressed through symbols of motion. The interest of creating the Tandak Mendue Muke Dance is to preserve Joget Dangkong. The value system contained in the Tandak Mendue Muke Dance is the religious values, value customs, traditional values, personal values and social values. The process of creating the Tandak Mendue Muke Dance went through 3 stages, namely the exploration, improvisation and formation stages. The Angsana Dance Community, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands Province is still trying to preserve Dangkong Joget. Preservation consists of three aspects, namely protection, development and utilization. Protection efforts are carried out by preserving the original movements of Joget Dangkong and documenting them. Development efforts were made by creating creative dances departing from the dangkong tradition, one of which is the Tandak Mendue Muke Dance. Utilization efforts by making various performance events are made to attract public interest in Dangkong Joget such as mini concerts and the Angsana Dance Art Festival.
