Abstract
Emotional intelligence is a person's ability to control an emotion that is in him, including teenagers. This study aims to determine the relationship between family functioning and emotional intelligence in adolescents aged 16-19 years in Pekanbaru City with a sample of 100 people. The sampling technique in this study used simple random sampling. Data collection techniques used a scale of 42 items for the family functioning scale and 20 items for the emotional intelligence scale. The results of this study used Pearson product moment analysis with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.426 with a significance of both variables of 0.000 (p <0.1). So it can be seen that there is a significant relationship between family functioning and emotional intelligence in adolescents in Pekanbaru City.
