Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze how scientific approach is implemented in online learning and face-to-face contact (PTMT) in Biology class XI science at SMAN 1 Tembilahan, Hulu. This study is descriptive study. The data was gathered by using observations, questionnaires, interviews, and documentations. This study's population included two Biology teachers and all students in Class XI IPA. This study employed a saturated sample approach for two biology professors and a basic random sampling strategy for 68 class XI science students. The findings of this study reveal that the scientific approach (5M) was implemented in online learning through teacher observations with an average of 57.20% in the sufficient category and student questionnaire answers with an average of 59.86% in the sufficient category. So, with a percentage of 58.53%, the use of the scientific approach in online learning is sufficient. While implementing the scientific method in Limited Face-to-Face Learning (PTMT), the results of teacher observations were 76% in the good category, and the results of student surveys were 79.88% in the good category. As a result, with a score of 77.94%, the scientific approach's application in PTMT can be classified as excellent. Based on the findings of this study, it is possible to conclude that the application of the scientific method in online learning is adequate, whereas the implementation of the scientific approach in PTMT is excellent.
