Abstract

This research was conducted at the Green House of UIRA Fram Agro, Riau Islamic University in Teropong, Kubang Jaya, Kampar Regency. This research was carried out for 3 months, starting from October to December 2020. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of the interaction of growing media and various durations of nutrient flow on the growth and production of mint leaves by hydroponic NFT. The design used in this study was a Divided Plot Design (RPT) in a Completely Randomized Design consisting of two factors. The first factor is the various durations of nutrient flow as the main plot and the second factor is the influence of Growing Media as sub-plots. The effect of various durations of nutrient flow consisted of 4 treatment levels, namely: 9, 14, 19 and 24 hours. The treatment of the influence of planting media consisted of 4 levels of treatment, namely: wood charcoal, cocopeat, hydroton and rockwoll planting media, so there were 16 treatment combinations with 3 replications. Thus, this study consisted of 48 experimental units with a total of 144 plants. Each experimental unit consisted of 3 plants and 2 plants were used as samples. Parameters observed were: number of economic shoots, wet weight of economic shoots, wet weight of plants, dry weight of plants and the ratio of shoots to roots. The data were analyzed by means of variance, if the calculated F obtained is greater than the F table, then proceed with further test of Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) at 5% level. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that: The interaction of the treatment time of irrigation and the type of planting media has a significant effect on all observation parameters. The best treatment is 24-hour irrigation and Rockwoll growing media. The main effect of watering time has a significant effect on all observation parameters. The best treatment is watering 24 hours. The main effect of the type of planting media has a significant effect on all observation parameters. The best treatment for Rockwoll growing media.
