Abstract

“The effect of Various Bioinsecticides in Controlling Pest and Application of Various Bioactivators to Increase Yield of Cauliflower (Brassica olaraceae L.)” supervised by Dr. Ir. Saripah Ulpah. M.Sc as main supervisor and Dr. Ir. H. T. Edi Sabli, M.Si as co-supervisor. The objective of the study was to evaluate the interaction effect of application various bioinsecticides and bioactivators on the growth and yield of cauliflower. The experimental design used was a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two factors. The first factor was type of bioactivators consisted of 4 levels: No bioactivator as control, EM4, Trichoderma, Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF). The second factor was biopesticide which consists of 5 levels: no biopesticide (control 1), young betel nut extract, Metarhizium, Beauvaria bassiana and abamectin (control 2). Parameters observed were relative growth rate (g/day), plant height (cm), number of leaves, curd weight (g), economic curd weight (g), fresh shoot weight (g), root volume (ml), time of pests presence (days), main number of pests, degree of infestation (%), presence of secondary pests, percentage of dead plants (%), and analysis of leaf nutrient uptake. The data were analyzed using Analyses of Variance and followed by HSD at 5% . The results showed that there was interaction between biopesticides and bioactivators on parameters Relative Growth Rate, curd weight, economic curd weight, and fresh shoot weight. Combination giving the best value was arbuscular mycorrhizal bioactivator and abamectin. The main effect of various bioactivators had a significant effect on the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, root volume, percentation of dead plants with the best treatment being arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. The main effect of various biopesticides was not significant but the application of abamektin was significant on plant height, number of leaves, root volume, day of pest presence, number of Plutella xylostella and degree of infestation.
