Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the contribution of limb muscle explosive power to the lay-up shoot results for basketball players at Babussalam High School Pekanbaru. This type of research is correlational research. The population and sample of this study were the Babussalam High School Basketball Team, Pekanbaru, which consisted of 15 players. The sampling technique was total sampling and the number of samples was 15 people. The instrument used is a vertical jump test and a lay up shoot test for basketball games. The results of the calculations carried out obtained a correlation index of 0.591. This value is in the range between 0.4 - 0.70 with a Medium correlation category. The rtable value in the sample of 15 or DF = 13 people is 0.514. thus the value of r count > r table or 0.591 > 0.514. The conclusion of this study is that there is a contribution of leg muscle explosive power to the lay-up shoot ability of basketball players at Babussalam High School Pekanbaru by 35%.
