Abstract

Character education is an attempt to be able to change someone's character for the better. This research is entitled "Character Education Value in Short Stories in Class VII Indonesian Textbooks, VIII and IX Middle School". The reason the authors made the short stories contained in the Indonesian language textbook as the object of research is because students use and learn Indonesian, and also students are the target of education. The problem of this research is how the character education value of Faith and Devotion, Honesty, Intelligence, Toughness and Concern in short stories in Grade VII, VIII and IX Indonesian Junior High School textbooks. This study aims to describe, analyze, and describe the value of character education of Faith and Devotion, Honesty, Intelligence, Toughness and Concern in short stories in VII, VIII and IX Indonesian Junior High School textbooks which will be analyzed and interpreted in a systematic and detailed manner so that real results obtained. The theory used for the Value of Karaker Education in Short Stories in Class VII Indonesian Textbooks, VIII and IX The First Menenga School on Character Education was proposed by Hasanuddin WS (2015). This research uses descriptive method, qualitative research approach, this type of research is a type of library research. Data source for short story research in VII grade VIII and IX Indonesian Junior High School textbooks, citation / text data in short stories. The results of this study from the aspect of faith and piety are characterized by the behavior and attitudes of a character who believes in the power of God, can believe that God will always be there. Honesty aspects can be characterized by attitudes and behavior of figures who can account for all sayings and fulfill their obligations and rights. Intelligence aspects can be characterized by attitudes and behaviors of logical thinking characters, being able to find solutions, and thinking forward. Resilience aspects are characterized by the behavior and attitudes of figures who are patient, disciplined, work hard, maintain safety and health. Concern aspects are characterized by the behavior of figures who obey the rules of the norm and like to help.
