Abstract

Palm oil is a commodity with high economic value that is able to sustain the community's economy today. A large number of plantation companies producing palm oil have spread throughout the country in Indonesia. As a commodity with high economic value, palm oil is capable of presenting crime, namely theft. Difficulties in fulfilling the necessities of life and the absence of work raises one's intention to commit theft crimes against bumpy palm oil fruit PT.X especially in the area of division I. Theft is a crime that has been regulated in article 362 of the Criminal Code. The purpose of this study was to determine the motivation of perpetrators of theft bumpy oil palm fruit PT.X. The method used in this research is to use interview and documentation instruments as data collection techniques through descriptive analysis based on qualitative data. The theoretical framework used in writing this thesis is the theory of Activity Routines (Cohen and Felson, 1979). The results of this study illustrate that the theft committed by the perpetrators occurred due to economic pressure, the location of the theft, attractive commodities, occupational professions, cooperation and weak security systems. The company, the community and the government are expected to be able to increase their active role and cooperation in efforts to control and minimize the occurrence of the crime of stealing bumpy palm fruit PT.X.
