Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of the Department of Transportation in conducting supervision and safety of water transportation in Indragiri Hilir Regency. The researcher's indicators include setting measuring instruments (standards), conducting assessments, and making improvements. Then this research is a qualitative method that departs from data, observations, interviews and documentation as a data collection tool. Informants in the study were  General Sub-Section, Personnel and Equipment, Speedboat owners, speedboat passengers, the community and the data collection techniques used consisted of Primary Data collected using interview techniques and Secondary data collected using observation techniques. While the analysis technique can be clarified by the results of observations, interviews and documentation, the data is processed and analyzed to explain the research objectives to be compared with theories related to the research title to conclude that the role of the Department of Transportation in Supervision of security and safety of water transportation in Indragiri Hilir Regency has played a role but has not been implemented optimally.
