Abstract

This study aims to determine the acquisition of biology class XI activities and learning outcomes at SMAN 1 Singingi Academic Year 2018/2019 through the application of crossword (TTS) Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model held on August 15, 2018 to 26 September 2018. Subjects are 23 students of class XI MIA1 in SMAN 1 Singingi totaling 23 people consisting of 15 female students and 8 male students. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The parameters measured are activities and learning outcomes of biology. Data on student activities were collected through observation sheets and questionnaires. Learning outcomes in the form of absorption and completeness of student learning which consists of individual and classical completeness. Data analysis was conducted descriptively to determine the absorption and completeness of student learning for cognitive values and psychomotor values. From the results of the study, the average student learning activity before PTK was 51.81% in the less active category, an increase in the first cycle of 12.74% to 64.55% in the moderately active category, and in the second cycle increased by 24.33 % to 88.88% in the very active category. The results for cognitive values before PTK were 69.35% and experienced an increase in the first cycle of 6.93% to 76.28% and experienced an increase in the second cycle of 9.11% to 85.39%. From the results of psychomotor scores before PTK, 72.83% experienced an increase in the first cycle of 6.56% to 79.39% and experienced an increase in the second cycle of 2.9% to 82.29%. It can be concluded that the application of Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model assisted by crossword puzzles can improve Biology learning activities and results of class XI students of SMAN 1 Singingi in the academic year 2018/2019 Keywords: Learning, Think Pair Share (TPS), Cross Puzzle (TTS), Learning Activities, Learning Outcomes
