Abstract
Bullying is an activity carried out consciously, deliberately and intended to hurt, induce fear through threats and further aggression to create terror. The tendency for bullying can decrease with empathy. This study aims to determine the relationship of empathy with the tendency of bullying behavior. The subjects of this study were 100 students at SMPN 1 Bandar Sekijang, Pelalawan. The subject taking technique used is random sampling. Measuring instruments used are empathy scale and bullying behavior. The analysis used in this study is the Sperman Rank Order correlation. The results of statistical analysis show the value of r = 0.003 with the value of Sig = -0.291 ** (p <0.05), it means that there is a negative relationship between empathy and the tendency of bullying behavior. Empathy contributes 1% to the tendency of bullying behavior. The remaining 99% is influenced by other factors, the higher the empathy, the lower the tendency for bullying behavior, and vice versa
