Abstract

Cooperative learning method is a learning method that focuses on the use of small groups of students to work together in maximizing learning conditions to achieve learning goals. While the interest in learning is an impulse that causes an individual attention to focus on certain objects such as lessons. In the preliminary study that the writer did on students in class VII at SMPN 01 Tapung Hilir, it found that the teacher had used the cooperative learning method but there were some students who did not pay attention to the teacher's explanation and some students were also saturated with the lessons of Islamic studies. The formulation of the problem in this study was whether there is an influence of cooperative learning method on students’ learning interests. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of cooperative learning method on students' interest in studying Islamic studies. The type of this research is quantitative research, with population and sample of 79 people. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and documentation. Based on the results of data processing and analysis, it can be concluded that there is an influence of cooperative learning method on students’ interest in studying Islamic studies in class VII at SMPN 01 Tapung Hilir of Kampar regency. This is evidenced by the significance value smaller than 0.05, which is 0.005 <0.05. So, the influence level of cooperative learning method on students’ learning interest is 0.003. According to the interpretation the correlation, the coefficient is located in the interval of 0.000.199 with the criteria of the level of influence is very low. Meanwhile, the other 99.7% is influenced by other things. Keywords: Cooperative Learning Method, Learning Interest
