Abstract

Having children with special needs is a heavy burden for parents both physically and mentally. This obstacle can be overcome by the attitude of qona'ah which is taught by Islam to its followers as the main foundation in guiding a happy life. In order to have that trait, it requires practice and habituation as well as social support. Social support will be very in control in the formation of a sense of acceptance and sufficient for what God has entrusted to parents of children with special needs. Based on this description, the purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between social support and Qona'ah's attitude to parents who have children with special needs. The research hypothesis is that there is a positive relationship between social support and the attitude of qona'ah to parents of children with special needs. This study uses a quantitative correlation method by searching the normality assumption test, linearity assumption test, and hypothesis testing with the help of SPSS 24.0 for Windows. Participants in this study were 78 parents who had children with special needs who attended the Pekanbaru Pembina SLB Negri and were Muslim. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling. Data was collected using the social support scale and the scale of Qona'ah's attitude measured using the Likert scale. The results show a positive relationship with a correlation value (r) = 0.994 and a significance value of 0.000 (ρ <0.05). This means that the higher the social support, the higher the attitude of the parents who have children with special needs.
