Abstract

This research aims to improve the learning process and students’ mathematic learning outcomes by applying cooperative learning model type of the Numbered Head Together (NHT). The type of this reasearch was a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of this research were students of class XI IPS 3 at SMAN 12 Pekanbaru in the academic year 2018/2019 consisting of 32 students with heterogeneous abilities. Data collecting was done from 19 September 2018 until 10 Oktober 2018 which consists of two cycles, which consists of the stages of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The instrument of data collection consists of mathematic learning outcomes test sheets and observation sheets for teacher and student activities. Technique of collecting data was conducted by observation and test techniques. The results showed that there was an improvement in the learning process from cycle I to cycle II and an increase in student mathematics learning outcomes can be seen from the number of students who completed achieving KKM experienced an increase in UH I and UH II from the base score. The percentage of completeness in the basic score is 16%, in UH I is 31%, and in UH II is 59%. Based on the result of the above research it can be concluded that the application of the NHT type of cooperative learning model can improve the learning process and improve the students’ mathematics learning outcomes of class XI IPS 3 at SMAN 12 Pekanbaru in the academic year 2018/2019 especially in the Linear Programme material.
