Abstract

This research aims to determine the learning motivation of students in class VIII 1 in the subject of art and culture subject (dance ) in SMPN 4, Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency. Theoretical foundation in this thesis is used as a guideline in writing a thesis consisting of motivational theories, Motivation that exists in each person has the following characteristics: (a ) persevering in facing tasks (able to work continuously in a long time, never stopped before completion) (b ) Resilient in the face of difficulties (not quickly despair ) Does not require outside encouragement to achieve the best possible (not quickly satisfied with the achievements that have been achieved ) (c ) Show interest in various various problems "for adults (eg issues of religious, political, economic, justice, corruption eradication, opposition to any criminal, immoral, etc. ) (d ) Prefer to work independently (e ) Get bored with routine tasks (things things that are mechanical, just repeating, so less creative ) (f ) Can maintain an opinion (if you are sure of something) (g ) Like to find and ask solve problem problems (Sadirman, 2016: 83). This research was conducted on February th 12 , 2020 to March 6 th , 2020. The data obtained were analyzed using quantitative data analysis using a likert scale / questionnaire as an instrument with data collection techniques carried out by giving a set of questions or written statements to respondents to be answered. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation techniques, questionnaire techniques, library techniques, tests and measurements and data analysis techniques. The location of the study was conducted at SMPN 4, Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency, Jl. Lembah Damai - Pandau Jaya. Based on the results of research conducted, it can be seen that the Learning Motivation of Class VIII 1 Students in Art and Culture Subject (Dance ) in SMPN 4, Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency reached a percentage of 73%, including the percentage criteria is quite high.
